History
بندر ترکمن در سواحل جنوب‌شرقی دریای خزر، استان گلستان، در سال ۱۳۵۹ مرکز شهرستان تازه‌تأسیس ترکمن شد. در دوران جنگ جهانی دوم، پس از اشغال ایران توسط متفقین، برای انتقال تجهیزات نظامی استفاده می‌شد و در آن زمان سه اسکله داشت که اکنون تنها یکی فعال است. این بندر یکی از مراکز مهم استحصال خاویار ایران است (حدود نیمی از خاویار کشور از این منطقه برداشت می‌شود).
